When Nicholas Coleman was born on December 19, 1868, his father, Ephriam, was 24 and his mother, Maria, was 22. He married Mary Katherine Williams (Mollie) Coleman on September 24, 1891. They had eight children during their marriage. He died on May 15, 1919, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at the age of 50, and was buried there. He worked as a prison guard at the Allegheny county jail. The jail and courthouse was built in 1886 and was in use until 1995. It is now a small museum. Located in it's original location, 420 Ross Street (Jail), Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, PA.
